Enjoying boarding life on the farm!

When it comes time to leave your dog with us at Sugar Maple Farm K-9, we know it’s more than just a drop-off — it’s an act of trust. That’s why we go the extra mile to make your dog’s stay feel like a second home. To help your pup settle in comfortably and make their time with us relaxing and joyful, we’ve put together this simple packing guide based on what works best in our cozy, home-based environment.

Whether it's your dog’s first stay or they’re a seasoned guest, packing the right items can ease the transition and ensure your dog feels secure, happy, and loved — just like they do at home.

👜 Essentials to Pack

1. Your Dog’s Regular Food

We recommend packing enough of your dog’s usual food for the entire stay — plus an extra day or two’s worth, just in case of travel delays. Sudden food changes can upset their tummy, and we want them to feel their best during their stay. Please pack food in labeled, portioned bags or a sealed container with feeding instructions.

2. Any Required Medications

We’re happy to administer medications, supplements, or special treatments your dog needs — just include detailed, written instructions and label everything clearly. We routinely work with dogs that have all types of health needs, and we treat every guest with the personalized care they deserve.

3. Leash and Collar

Please bring a sturdy leash and collar (with ID tags) for safe transitions during arrival and departure. While your dog will spend most of their time off-leash in our secure, fenced-in areas, we want arrivals and exits to go smoothly.

🧸 Comfort Items We Recommend

4. Favorite Blanket or Bed

While we provide comfy bedding, a familiar-smelling item from home — like your dog’s blanket, crate mat, or small bed — can make a big difference, especially during the first night. The scent of home provides comfort and reassurance.

5. One or Two Favorite Toys

Pack a toy or two your dog loves — especially if it’s something soothing like a chew toy, puzzle toy, or snuggle buddy. Too many toys can get misplaced, so it’s best to keep it simple.

⛔️ What Not to Bring

  • Bowls – We provide sanitized stainless steel food and water bowls for every guest.

  • Rawhides or High-Risk Treats – These can be choking hazards when unsupervised. If you have a specific request, just let us know.

  • Multiple Toys or Bulky Bedding – We likely will have other doggie guests staying with us during your dog's boarding. Too many toys can create chaos; simpler is better!

🎒 Optional Add-Ons for a Pampered Pup

At Sugar Maple Farm K-9, your pup gets all the nature walks they can handle, enrichment play, one-on-one snuggle sessions, and lots of love. If you know your dog thrives with a little more mental stimulation or quiet cuddles, let us know in advance — we’ll build the stay around your dog’s personality.

We are not a one-size-fits-all boarding — we are a family operated, home away from home, tailor every stay with care.
